While I have to agree that the kid shouldn't be just passed along, I have to question the mother. She is the only one who can help him improve his grades. He isn't responding to the teachers. Also if his homework isn't done, she should be over his shoulder, not complaining after he has failed. Where is the parent accountability? She should have been more involved earlier, not now!
*It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City -- New York City is itself a detective story.Agatha Christie
*If there were one city I should pick to live in, it would be New York. It is a city where I walk down the street and feel anything is possible.Maria Schell
*A city is a place where there is no need to wait for next week to get the answer to a question, to taste the food of any country, to find new voices to listen to and familiar ones to listen to again.Margaret Mead
*This city's nitty gritty, but it's so much fun.

Good for her. I saw way too much of this working in Flint (already in 1st grade) and it was doing the kids no favors.
Good for that mom. That's just ridiculous.
