"If That Makes You Feel Better About it, Dana"
That's what Steve said to me when I posed this theory:
"Maybe David Cook doesn't really want to win American Idol. Maybe he's deliberately throwing the competition because winning American Idol would decrease his ability to be a real artist. You know, make him into a product of the machine? Right? That's why he picked such poor songs? Right?"

Can you believe it? I thought for sure that David Cook was a shoe-in!
Mike and I kept making excuses for him last night too. We also tried to convince ourselves that Archeleto wasn't as good as he actually was . . .
So sad!
But, it's good to know that the title of American Idol doesn't mean much . . . many of the successful Idol stars didn't actually win - like Daughtrey!
That's funny, b/c I said the same thing to Dean last night. His response, was a roll of the eyes.
Sonny's right. David Cook will still be wildly successful even when he doesn't win tonight. and Archuleta will fold under the pressure of it all, he's too young.
all this knowledge I have and I just started watching Idol 2 weeks ago.
He won anyway!!!!
It's an American Idol miracle!
Win, lose, it does't matter as long as your name is David. You should hear me sing.
Fig,
I thought you only sang Ted Nugent and Steve Miller Band, and I'm pretty sure they aren't on the American Idol playlist...
Is this some sort of TV show you're all talking about?
Ok, I don't watch Idol but even I knew that all this turned out differently than anyone expected. And I'm happy for you.
(I did hear his "Billie Jean" on YouTube and must say it rather rocked my world for a few minutes there).
